Suggestions for activities on your school camp trip
Fun and social
Immerse yourself in shared fun and spooky stories. In the rogue's room under the hostel, you'll find plank tables and benches and exciting games. In the room next door, you can compete in table football or plan a treasure hunt, which you can do in the small forest and the many stairs right next to the hostel.
Danish and history
Koldinghus - Jutland's last royal castle - has played a significant role in the history of Denmark's rise and fall over its more than 700 years of existence. Originally built as a defense against the duchies to the south, Koldinghus changed over the years from being the home of soldiers to being the preferred residence of kings and queens. Here is a dungeon with a ghost story and detective task for the clever.
The Bank of Shame has become a place of remembrance after Denmark lost the war against Germany in 1864. Today, Skamlingsbanken is not only a beautiful vantage point and a popular excursion destination. Memorials have been erected here to important people and events in the South Jutland cause - the last one after reunification in 1920, when the current border was established.
Christiansfeld is Denmark's only UNESCO city. In 1771, King Christian VII gave permission for the Moravian Church to build a town in Denmark. It was members of the Moravian community from the town of Herrnhut who traveled to Denmark to start a congregation here, and it is their craftsmanship that is still visible in many buildings. The Christiansfeld Center is a World Heritage Center and a great place to start your visit to Christiansfeld. The history of the town is still alive and charming and a unique example of architecture that illustrates a particular stage in human history.
Art, culture and design
Trapholt - Here you can explore art together with Detective Fjumre. With fake mustache and magnifying glass. Trapholt's thought-provoking permanent and changing exhibitions help put our time and culture into perspective. Danish design at its best, including Arne Jacobsen, Wegner and Piet Hein.
Body and movement
Kolding Play Park is free, here you can swing up to the sky, slide until your tummy tingles, sail on the lake and play mini golf, try moon-cars and climb.
Slotssøbadet Located 10 min walk from the hostel, here you can try Denmark's first indoor SPRAYPARK with a wealth of water and play, water slide and play pools where you can swim against the current. Free admission for guests staying at Danhostel Kolding.
Marielund Forest is located close to the city. There are various routes, distances and difficulty levels for both cycling and hiking. Rent bikes and take a ride on the disused railroad along the Troldhedestien trail or go canoeing on Kolding Å.
