Queen Dorothea Hamam
Hamam originates from the ancient Greeks, where people were washed in hot baths. Inspired by ancient Greece, the Romans built large bathing facilities called baths. This gave rise to the hamam/Turkish bath in the Middle East. Hamams were often built next to a mosque and were originally used by Turks to wash off before prayers in the mosque. When the Christian Crusaders returned from wars in the Middle East, they brought the hamam concept to Western Europe.
However, the Hamam tradition worldwide has reverted to its original Roman form, which is all about washing and cleansing the skin in a good and effective way.
Queen Dorothea's Sauna offers two different types of hammam treatments. Both treatments take place on a warm marble slab with room for two people, so you can enjoy a wonderful spa experience with your partner, girlfriend or friend.
It is recommended that you arrive at least 45 minutes before your treatment starts, as the best effect of the hammam is achieved by staying in our salt-float pool for about 10 min. before treatment and 10 min. in the steam room or sauna. The therapist/hostess will tell you when to start in the salt floatation pool and will pick you up afterwards in the steam room/sauna.
Moroccan Hamam
After your skin is prepared for the salt and steam treatment, you enter the hammam room relaxed to a warm marble slab where you are fitted with a pair of disposable briefs.
You lie down on your stomach and are sprinkled with nice warm water. You will then be washed with a special hammam sponge with black soap from Morocco (Morocco's black gold) on the entire back of your body.
You are then sprinkled again with warm water to rinse off the soap and smeared with sugar scrub. You are scrubbed with a special hammam glove, which effectively removes the dead skin cells. You are then sprinkled with water again to rinse off the scrub.
You are turned over on your back and the procedure is repeated on the front of your body.
The treatment ends with a nice hot shower to rinse off the soap. Followed by a cold shower to refresh the body.
Duration: approximately 50 minutes + time in the salt-float pool and steam room/sauna

Turkish Hamam
After your skin is prepared for the salt and steam treatment, you enter the hammam room relaxed to a warm marble slab covered in soft, fragrant soap foam.
You will lie on your stomach and be covered with soap foam all over your body, after which you will be scrubbed all over the back of your body with our special hammam glove, which effectively removes dead skin cells.
You'll receive a light massage, first with a foam cushion and then a gentle massage with your hands.
