Pool safety courses and tests
Guidelines on swimming safety for the school area in Kolding Municipality.
The school area leans towards Swim Denmark's recommendations for safety.
Employees who participate in swimming lessons or Sfo activities in water must have an approved pool instructor test so that they meet safety regulations and can perform lifesaving and operate resuscitation equipment.
The test has a validity of 1 year.
For swimming lessons, there must be one staff member with an approved test for every 15 students.
Slotssøbadet ensures that lifeguards are present at all swimming lessons that take place during public opening hours.
The courses are run by Slotssøbadet, which ensures that the courses meet current requirements. Courses are offered 3 times a year in both Kongeåbadet and Slotssøbadet.
Tests are arranged directly with Slotssøbadet's employees after completing the course.
School employees have free access to training in Slotssøbadet and Kongeåbadet on school days throughout the year upon presentation of identification, so that employees can maintain their "water skills".
Content of the teacher test
Form practice:
Diving followed by a 200m swim. The instructor starts from the edge of the pool or starting jump stool. The first 50 m must be swum with overview and head above water. Maximum time for the first 50 m is 1 min. 30 sec.
Rescue of unconscious person:
Dive, scuba dive, recovery, tread water dive, recovery, 25m recovery, hauling, CPR.
The instructor is at the edge of the pool. A rescue dummy is placed in the deepest part of the pool 10 m from the lifeguard. A media is ready on the surface of the water. The lifeguard jumps into the water and performs a screaming dive towards the rescue dummy. The dummy is picked up and released. From treading water, dive for the manikin again. After retrieval, the dummy is released again and the media is recovered 25 m. At the edge, perform a safe handoff and retrieve the media with a helper. Consciousness and breathing are checked on the medium and CPR is demonstrated on the resuscitation manikin. The rescue is completed with a stable side position.
Managing neck injuries:
The trainer demonstrates neck injury management on a medium that simulates an injury to the neck by lying lifeless in the water surface in shallow water. The subject is conscious. A neck head hold or stretched arm hold with inversion is used.
Oral examination:
The trainer reviews procedures for alerting lifeguards in the facility, location of the facility's resuscitation equipment and telephone for external alerting. The trainer discusses relevant measures to prevent accidents during training.

Book an appointment to review pool samples:
After reviewing pool tests, a trial period is agreed with the instructor.
